GTA Vice City is the sixth entrant to the Grand Theft Auto series and was released in 2002-03. It was based on Miami and a fictional city named “Vice City” was created for the gameplay. GTA San Andreas is the successor of GTA Vice City and the seventh entrant to the series. It was released in 2004-05. The city of San Andreas is loosely based on California and Nevada. Though I have nostalgia towards Vice City (first GTA game I ever played – check out GTA 4 APK), I have to admit that San Andreas is overall a much better game than its predecessor.

Naturally, San Andreas had much better graphics than Vice City. The interface, the 3D models, the weapons, the cars and even the blood was rendered much better in San Andreas when compared to Vice City. Being the successor might have played a part in this!

Secondly and maybe one of the most important reasons would be a wider and a freer world to roam and explore. San Andreas is huge in terms of open world play and Vice City looks like the elder brother who, as the time passed, became the shorter one of the brothers. The ability to dive and swim underwater also has been a huge factor for this opinion; along with the big desert area that covers a part of San Andreas. A big area also means more missions with an increased number of characters, which is why San Andreas is widely regarded as one of the greatest games of all time owing to its enormous amount of gameplay. Add to that the interesting and much more challenging nature of the game and you would not be surprised by the popular opinion of San Andreas being the better game.

And lastly, the soundtrack of the game. The themes of San Andreas are iconic and more memorable than the soundtracks of Vice City. I loved them so much I even used to hear them on YouTube when YouTube was formed! “It was a good day” from Ice Cube was my favorite of the lot. And don’t forget the signature GTA San Andreas theme! I mean it got so popular that it is even used as a meme after 15 years since the release of the game!

I know opinions might differ on the same. Many people love Vice city for the simple gameplay it provides and the nostalgia content. Even I do!
